Lenneth
The game's chief protagonist, Lenneth Valkyrie is one of three goddesses who determine destiny. The Norse god Odin orders Lenneth to collect souls of dead warriors and recruit them for Ragnarok, the ultimate war between good and evil fought to defend the kingdom of Asgard. Lenneth shares her physical form with her two sisters, Hrist and Silmeria, although only one sister is awake at a time.
Platina
A poor, neglected young girl, Platina becomes determined to flee her destitute village when she learns her mother intends to sell her into slavery. She runs away with her friend Lucian only to die in a meadow of toxic flowers. Platina becomes the human host for Lenneth's soul.
Mystina
An egotistical narcissist, the beautiful Mystina graduated head of the class from the Flenceburg Sorcery Academy and stayed on to work as a researcher. Her lack of consideration for others leads to her own murder, although her soul's unable to serve Odin in defense of Asgard because her killer froze her body before she officially died. Mystina earns Lenneth's trust and respect when she risks her own well-being to defend Lenneth against the gods.
Aelie
Because she possesses the powerful Dragon Gem, Aelie can transform into a dragon, dons green armor and wields a long spear in battle. However, Aelie's shape-shifting comes with a hidden price, as it slowly robs her of her own identity. Lenneth recruited Aelie's soul after the evil Gandar kidnapped Aelie and tortured her to death in an effort to gain information about the Dragon Orb, thinking she possessed the orb rather than the gem.
Arngrim
A savage fighter and expert swordsman, Arngrim is a mercenary from the Artolia region who shows no mercy during battle. After Lenneth assists him in tracking down Princess Jelanda's killer, Arngrim commits suicide to serve Lenneth and becomes one of her most trusted allies.
Badrach
A renowned thief, Badrach refuses to join the Thieves' Guild because he prefers to work alone. His abrasive personality and stubborn attitude make him unpopular and eventually lead to his death at the hands of a Thieves' Guild assassin. Lenneth recruits Badrach's soul despite his obvious character flaws, which include weaknesses for drink and women, when she learns he once saved a young girl from slavery.
