Games to Make Teammates Trust Each Other

Teams exist almost everywhere in life -- from sports to sales to corporate management to law enforcement. For any team to succeed, all the members must know how to work together. A cornerstone of a teamwork is trust. To keep your team on the cutting edge, play games that help build trust and reliance on one another.
  1. Minefield

    • This activity teaches players to blindly trust their partner and also promotes good communication skills. In this game, a minefield is set up for the players to navigate. Mark off a square on the floor and fill it with cones that will act as the "mines." Players will be blindfolded and have to walk across the minefield without bumping or stepping on the cones. Their partners will call out directions to guide them across.

    Willow in the Wind

    • This game teaches players to trust their teammates to keep them from falling. A tight circle is formed by the team with one teammate in the middle. The person in the middle stands with her feet together and crosses her arms over her chest, with her body rigid. Then she closes her eyes and leans back. The group passes her around the circle without letting her fall.

    Trust Fall

    • In this game, teammates learn to lean on one another. One person stands with feet together and arms crossed over his chest. His partner stands behind him and braces himself with one foot behind him and one foot forward. The person doing the catching puts his hands up in the ready position. Then the person falling closes his eyes and, keeping his body rigid, falls back and lets his partner catch him.

    Blind Crossing

    • In this game team members learn to walk by faith and not by sight. The team is divided up into partners. The partners line up across from each other. One line of team members is blindfolded. Then, walking with their hands held up in front of them for safety, they must cross the space between them and their partner. The person without a blindfold must adjust his position to meet his oncoming partner hand to hand.
