Cheats for Ransom of the Seven Ships

In the PC video game "Nancy Drew: Ransom of the Seven Ships," you play as famous girl detective Nancy Drew as she tries to find her kidnapped friend, Bess Marvin. Along the way, you'll unravel the mysteries of the Bahaman island Dread Isle and investigate tales of a buried treasure. While Nancy can solve most any mystery, knowing a few cheats can help her along her way.
  1. Supply Closet

    • In the eco-tourism resort, you can find diving equipment, walkie-talkies and a map in the closet, but first you have to solve a puzzle to open the door. The puzzle features five rows of five buttons. You need to press the correct sequence of buttons to turn all the buttons green and open the door. If you number the buttons left to right, starting in the top-left corner, the correct button sequence would be 8, 9, 4, 10, 14, 10, 5 and 20. If you're playing on junior level, the correct code is 7, 10, 15, 25, 22 and 21.

    Sail Bin

    • You'll find a locked sail bin inside the eco-tourism resort's shed. To figure out the lock's combination, examine the charts of sails on the way. Each sail corresponds to a number, translating to 79204, or the correct combination for the sail bin. Having sails will allow you to sail wherever you need to go around the island.

    Golf Cart

    • Along with the sail bin, you'll also find a device that supplies water to the resort's golf cart. But to get the cart to work, you need to fill parts of the engine with water in what amounts to a math puzzle. You need to get all six parts of the engine to equal 100 points, but you can only fill up to 60 points at once. For instance, you can fill one part up to 60 or two parts to 30 each or three parts to 20 each. The correct solution requires you to first fill all six engine parts together. Then fill the upper left, bottom left, bottom right and middle right together. Next, fill the bottom left, upper right and middle right together. Then fill the upper right and middle left together. Finally, fill the upper left by itself. You'll now be able to drive the golf cart anywhere on the island.

    Easter Egg

    • Later in the game, you can find an Easter egg if you go sailing and collect all bottled messages. Piecing the messages together spells out a quote from Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven." Some of the quote's letters are colored red and form another message, instructing you to dig in the sand in front of sharks. Sail near the sunken ship, and you'll see sharks in the upper-right corner of the screen. Swim out near the sharks and dig to find the Easter egg.
