Half-Life: Blue Shift Cheats

A first-person shooter video game for the PC, "Half Life: Blue Shift" is the second expansion pack for the original "Half Life" game which challenges you to fend off an alien invasion, except in "Half Life: Blue Shift" you play as security guard Barney Calhoun who must fight his way out of the Black Mesa Research Facility. The game includes several cheats to help you along on your mission.
  1. Cheat Mode

    • To access a cheat mode in which you can type in secret codes, start the game with the "-console" command line parameter, then press the "~" symbol key to bring up the display console window. Entering "sv_cheats 1" before loading a game or level activates the full cheat mode, which allows you to type a number of codes into the console window to gain valuable cheats.

    Codes

    • Inserting different codes provides different effects. For example, typing "god" in the cheat console window lets you play in God mode; typing "noclip" lets you play in no clipping mode, which allows you to fly through walls; inserting "impulse 101" grants access to all the game's weapons; typing "sv_gravity" lets you edit gravity's strength, while "sv_accelerate" sets jump strength; entering "Skill" followed by a number from 1 to 3 controls the game's difficulty level; finally, entering "Chase_active" and either zero or 1 changes the third-person view.

    Levels

    • Use the cheat code console window to access whatever level you want. Simply type "map" followed by a space and then the name of the desired level. Each level name must start with "ba_" followed by the location's basic description, such as "ba_canal1." Other level names include "elevator," "hazard," "maint," "power" and "security."

    Secret Box

    • Enable the impulse 101 cheat code and enter the main room. Proceed to the bathroom and open your locker to find a secret box. Use a crowbar or other weapon to batter the box until it breaks open, revealing a live little alien. You really can't do much with the alien, but it's interesting to look at.

    Gordon Freeman

    • When exiting the tram, you have to wait for a guard to open the door. Turn around to see Gordon Freeman from the original "Half Life" game passing by in another tram. Later, in the security room, you can also see Freeman on one of the surveillance monitors. You can even kill Freeman during that opening tram scene if you have the no clipping and impulse 101 codes activated. Simply fly across to the passing tram and beat Freeman with the crowbar.
