Subsequent Air Jordan shoes elevated Jordan to iconic status, making him as popular for his footwear as he was for his game.
Features
"NBA 2K11" contains 40 unlockable pairs of Air Jordan shoes, spanning from the original Air Jordan I to the 2010 version of the famous shoe line. Once unlocked, the shoes appear on a selection menu, allowing players to pick which shoes they'd like to wear during games. The menu includes a detailed photo of the shoes and an explanation of the attribute bonus the shoes grant the player.
Unlocking
Unlike many video games, "NBA 2K11" doesn't require players to find the Air Jordan shoes or complete difficult tasks to unlock them. Instead, players merely have to play the game. The shoes act as a reward for dedicated play. The more you play, the more shoes you'll unlock. The Air Jordans unlock in a weighted random order based on the shoes' scarcity in real life, so different players may unlock the same shoes at different times.
Function
The unlockable Air Jordans provide more than just decoration. The shoes directly affect game play, with each pair of Air Jordans granting players a boost in attribute points in a specific skill and improving the player's in-game performance. For example, unlocking the Air Jordan XI, the most valuable shoe in the game, will increase a player's dunk ability by 10 attribute points. All other shoes give bonuses of between 2 and 5 attribute points. Some of the other bonuses include the original Air Jordans improving ball handling by 2 points, the Air Jordan XX increasing the player's quickness by 4 points and the Air Jordan IV improving passing by 5 points.
