Shivers
Known as the Wandering Butler, Shivers served the mansion until his death and now roams the rooms and corridors searching for his master's will. Shivers remains eternally in love with the pianist Melody Pianissima and pines for her even in death. He also has an intense fear of fire, so he moves throughout the mansion carrying an unlit candelabra. Shivers' fear of fire helps you when trying to capture him.
Equipment
Luigi enters the mansion carrying a flashlight, a special Horror Game Boy that can reveal hidden items and a Poltergust 3000 machine that can suck up ghosts. Luigi needs his trusty tools to capture Shivers and unlock the secret of the butler's room.
Capture
To capture Shivers, you must first look for the floating candelabra moving up and down the hall. Luigi also needs to have a Fire Element Medal that allows you to light the floating candles. The flames frighten Shivers and cause him to become visible. Shivers then starts to run away, but don't follow him -- instead, rush to the Butler's Room. If you follow him, Shivers plays a trick and takes you on a wild goose chase. Simply wait for him in his room. Once he arrives, Shivers tries to sit down and relax. That's when you need to suck him up with the Poltergust 3000. If you take too much time in capturing him or fail with your first attempt, Shivers leaves the room, forcing you to track him down again out in the hallway.
Treasure Room
Luigi's Mansion contains two secret treasure rooms, and you can find the entrance to one of them in the Butler's Room. After you've defeated Shivers, activate your Game Boy Horror and inspect the room until you find a mouse hole. Pressing the "A" button near the hole triggers a warp that sucks you into a hidden treasure room. Capture a few flash ghosts before reaping the rewards of eight treasure chests containing valuable jewels. Returning to the hole takes you back to the Butler's Room.
