How to Make the Velcro® Hat Game
Choose the number of team players you wish to have. It's best to play with at least two players per team. Provide each team with a stocking cap and five ping-pong balls. The actual number of teams and players per team doesn't matter. Choose one team member to be the catcher and wear the stocking cap while teammates throw the Velcro® balls.
Cover each of the ping-pong balls with sticky-back Velcro®. Try to make sure that as much of the ping-pong ball is covered with Velcro® as possible. Measure five feet between the catcher and the thrower and mark with colored tape. Each of the players is to stand behind the colored tape line.
Instruct one player to throw one Velcro® ball at a time at the stocking cap, attempting to stick them onto the stocking cap, until all five balls are thrown. It's important that the catcher stand perfectly still and not move toward the oncoming balls. Record how many Velcro® balls get stuck to the stocking hat, then direct the next team to play.
Record the second team's score, and if there are additional teams, let them each take a turn playing. Allow following teammates to take a turn throwing Velcro® balls at their catcher once each of the teams has played round one. If there is only one team with two players, the person who scores the highest wins.
After each player from each team has played, direct the catcher from each team to switch places with another teammate to allow him a turn at throwing Velcro® balls for a final round. If there is a tie game between the teams, rules must change for the playoff round. Measure an additional five feet between the catcher and the thrower on each of the teams. The highest score wins.
