5 Games to Kill an Hour

An hour can seem like forever, especially if you have to kill time. However, you can play games if you don't know what to do to speed up time while waiting. Games keep you engaged and entertained and dozens are simple enough that they can be played in an hour or less, whether you're alone or with others.

Video Games
- Choose an exciting, action-packed game to play to help you to kill an hour. An action-packed game usually moves faster, allowing you to finish the game, or at least part of the game, in a shorter period of time. Fighting and racing video games are generally shorter to play than role-playing games. Play a video game that allows you to save your progress. If you have to go somewhere after an hour, you can save the game and continue where you left off when you return. Video games also include games that you've downloaded for your phone.
Board Games
- Board games like Monopoly, Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit often take several hours to play. However, you can kill time by playing board games that don't take too long to finish. Some board games that take an hour or less to play are Boggle, Backgammon, Checkers, Candyland and Sorry. Other short board games to play are Operation, Taboo and Scattergories.
Puzzle Games
- Kill an hour by exercising your brain playing puzzle games. Not only does time fly when you're concentrating on a puzzle game, but you can boost your mental power at the same time. Play puzzle games like Jenga and Connect Four, or buy a book full of Sudoku games or other puzzle games, such as crossword puzzles, math problems, logic puzzles, IQ tests and trivia quizzes. Other puzzle games include mazes and word-search games.
Card Games
- Some card games like Poker and Canasta usually take more than an hour to play. Kill time playing short, simple card games to kill an hour. Solitaire, a one-player card game with different variations, is one of the card games that you can play. Short, multiple-player card games include Crazy Eights, Black Jack, Old Maid, Memory and Go Fish.
Computer Games
- If you have a Windows PC, play the games that are installed in your computer to kill an hour. Depending on what Windows version you have, games may include Solitaire, FreeCell, Spider Solitaire, Hearts and Minesweeper. Computer games also include online arcade, board, puzzle, card and word games that take an hour or less to play, such as Bejeweled, Collapse, Text Twist, Diner Dash and BounceOut. Online computer games may be played for free on sites such as Yahoo! Games, Miniclip, Game Node and GameHouse.

Games
