Instructions
Do not open the packaging of your new video game. You cannot get a refund for video games that are already opened. If you do open your video game and then decide to try to return it, you are limited to exchanges only per the GameStop return policy.
Talk to a manager of the GameStop store where you purchased the new game. Explain to the manager that you lost the receipt, but that the game is in the original packaging. Give the manager details about the day you came in to purchase the game, including the exact date of purchase, name of the staff member who helped you, the approximate time that you were in the store and ask the manager or staff if they remember seeing you in the store.
See if the manager can pull up a transactional report from the day that you purchased the game. A transactional report will show the manager all of the store products that were sold that particular day. If your video game is the only one on that report, the manager may consider this enough evidence to give you store credit or an exchange.
Trade in the new game as a last resort. GameStop will give you the trade-in value that they establish for the new game based off of quantity that the company has of that game and popularity. The trade-in amount will not be the full value that you originally paid for the game, but it still allows you to select something new.
