Couples Games for Boyfriends & Girlfriends

Whether your relationship is new or well established, there are many games you can play together as a couple. Ideal games for couples promote interaction while encouraging friendly competition. Because communication is an important part of most games, participation allows you to learn more about each other. Games can also strengthen your bond while you participate in an enjoyable activity together. Above all, games provide a fun way to spend quality time with your significant other.
  1. Food Tasting Game

    • In the food tasting game, removing the sense of sight helps you focus on other senses.

Select small samples of 10 different foods; don't let your partner see the foods! Select foods with distinct flavors and differing textures. Use unusual foods to make the game more challenging. Suggested foods: sardines, prunes, jam, celery, garden peas, mushrooms and raw spinach. Blindfold your partner; she will taste each food sample and guess what it is. Write down each of the guesses. Your partner earns one point for each correct guess; one point is deducted for incorrect guesses. Now repeat-this time your partner picks out 10 different samples and you guess. The highest score wins

    Observation Game

    • A game of "Observation" will help boost your memory.

Select about 20 objects, place them on a table. Cover the objects with a cloth, do not allow your partner to see them. Suggested items: acorn, button, dish, pen, glove, harmonica. Remove the cloth to reveal the items. Allow your partner one minute to look at the objects. Replace the cloth; your partner has five minutes to list all he remembers. Score one point for each correct answer; lose two points for items on your list not on the table. Take turns, the highest score wins

    Boxes

    • Boxes can be played wherever there is pen and paper.

Make a row of 10 dots on a piece of paper. Draw nine more rows of dots so you have 100 dots total. The game's purpose is to complete as many boxes as possible, while blocking your partner from doing the same. Each player can only draw one line joining two dots per turn. One box is complete when all four sides have been joined. When you've completed a box, draw another line and write your initial inside the box. Your turn ends when you've drawn a line that doesn't complete a box. Game ends when all possible boxes are complete. Player with most boxes wins.

    Role Play Adventure Gaming

    • Couples get to know each other through role-play games.

A comic or adventure book can provide the inspiration for your adventure game. Select a story with two lead characters and plenty of action. You will also need a referee to moderate the play. Adventure gaming author Jack C. Harris explains how it works: "Suppose a player's made up character begins with 10 points of magical powers and 10 points of strength. He may fight a magical creature and steal its magic spell. His power would then increase by 11 points."
