How to Solve a 4 Sided Rubiks Cube

The Rubik's cube is a popular puzzle game that has been stumping people for years. The objective is to return each colored square to its original position on the cube, making each side of the cube a uniform color. The 3x3x3 (meaning three squares per row) version is the standard Rubik's cube; the 4x4x4 version (four squares per row) is a greater challenge, but if you know how to solve the 3x3x3 version, solving the 4x4x4 Rubik's cube can be simple.

Instructions

    • 1

Twist the sections of the Rubik's cube to solve the center four squares of each side of the cube. On each of the six sides, the four center squares should match in color, and each side should use a different color.

    • 2

Using the same twisting method, solve the two middle squares on the edges of each side. On each edge, the two middle pieces should match each other, and these pieces should also match the center square color on each side.

    • 3

Treat each matching edge section as an edge piece and each matching center section as a center piece, and proceed with solving the 4x4x4 Rubik's cube as though it were a standard 3x3x3 version. Twist each section of the cube to return each square to its original position. Each side should be a different, uniform color.
