How to Play Cowboy Quick Draw

Keeping kids entertained during the long summer break or at birthday parties and other get-togethers can sometimes be tough. A game of cowboy quick draw may provide an hour or two of fun, and as an extra bonus, this activity can sharpen their reaction skills and give them a chance to practice healthy competition. The game is played with two children at a time. Explain the rules clearly before play begins to ensure the game is played fairly.

Things You'll Need

Toy gun holsters, 2
Water pistols, 2
Cowboy hats (optional)

Instructions

  Fill the two water pistols with water.

  Find an open outdoor space where the kids can play the game. They will need to stand about four paces away from each other to play. Have two children wear the holsters and, if desired, the cowboy hats, and give each child a loaded water pistol.

  Position the kids back-to-back and ask them to take two steps forward while still facing away from each other.

  Yell "Draw!" At this time, each child must turn around while simultaneously raising his or her water pistol and firing at his or her opponent.

  The first child to successfully spray his or her opponent wins.
