Fairy Tale Games for Girls Only

When planning a fairy tale party for your little princess, create a few games for the girls to play. Games will prevent boredom and keep the girls mingling throughout the party, as well as give them a chance to win a few prizes. From glitter to princess wands, incorporating fairy items into games is the perfect way to add some sparkle to a fairy tale party.

Easy Passing Game
- Play an easy game of pass the princess item by having the girls sit in a circle. Give one girl a tiara and a princess wand. Play music and have the girls pass the items around the circle. When the music stops, the girl holding the items is out of the game. Keep playing and eliminating one player after each round. The last girl remaining in the game wins the princess wand and tiara. For a variation, have the girls pass a fairy tale-themed doll, book set or DVD.
Floor Games
- Print several pictures of princesses. Write a number on each picture and write the same numbers on index cards. Place the index cards in a bowl and scatter the pictures all over the floor. Play fairy tale-themed music and have the girls dance around the pictures. When the music stops, each girl must stand on a number. Draw a number from the bowl, and the girl standing on that number wins a small prize. For another game, fill a small bucket with play sand and prizes, such as plastic necklaces, bracelets and princess wands. Have the girls sit in a circle around the sand. Select two girls to race to the sand to search for a prize. The first girl to find a prize gets to keep it. Keep playing until each girl wins a prize.
Relay Races
- Create a Cinderella relay race by dividing the girls into two teams. Mark lines 20 feet apart. Have both teams line up at the starting line. When you say "Go," the first two girls in each team line must take off one shoe and hop to the opposite line and back. Each player must do the same thing. The first team to finish the race wins the game. You can also create a Sleeping Beauty relay race by placing two sleeping bags at the far line. When a player runs down, she must get in and out of the sleeping bag, then run back. Each player on the team must do the same thing. The first team to finish wins the race.
Craft Contests
- Have the girls make fairy tale crafts. Award prizes to the best, funniest, silliest and most creative crafts. Give the girls wooden dowels, paint, stickers, craft foam, glue and markers to make fairy wands. Other craft ideas include tiaras, visors, T-shirts, pillowcases and hand mirrors.
