Curious George Games for Toddlers

Many toddlers love the loveable monkey, Curious George, from a series of children's book written by Hans Augusto Rey and Margaret Rey. When planning a birthday party or gathering for a group of toddlers, incorporate Curious George into the games. Since they have short attention spans, it is best to plan short and easy games for the young children to play. Give all game winners small Curious George-themed stickers and toys to entice the young kids to play along.
  1. Easy Games

    • Have the children sit in a circle and give one child a plush Curious George toy. Play music and tell the children to pass George around the circle. When the music stops playing, the child holding the Curious George is out of the game. Eliminate one player each round and the last player in the game wins the Curious George plush toy. For another game, print several pictures of Curious George and write a number on each one. Write the same numbers on small slips of paper and put them in a paper cup. Put the pictures on the ground. Have the children walk around the pictures while music plays. When the music stops, they must stand on a picture. Draw a number and the player standing on that number wins a small prize.

    Hunt Games

    • Hide plastic Curious George toys around the play area. Give each toddler a small paper sack. Have the children hunt for the toys. The child who finds the most Curious George toys wins the game and another prize. All children can take home the toys they find. For another variation, hide pictures of Curious George around the party area and have the children hunt for the pictures.

    Monkey Contests

    • Tell the toddlers to practice their best monkey calls. Have the toddlers do their best monkey calls one at a time. Award prizes to the best, most realistic, loudest and squeakiest monkey calls. For a variation, have each of the the children act like a monkey, too. Another monkey contest is to have the toddlers try to walk like monkeys. Show them a video of monkeys walking and let them try it. Award prizes to the best and funniest monkey walks.

    Tossing Games

    • Place several buckets or pails on the ground and mark a standing line 5 feet from them. Have the children stand on the line and try to toss plastic Curious George toys into the buckets. The children can also use bananas or plush monkeys to toss into the buckets. Award a small prize to each child who makes a toy into a bucket. For another tossing game, hang hula-hoops from a tree or clothesline. Have the children stand 5 feet from the hoops and try to toss the bananas and Curious George toys through the hoops.
