Games to Play Alone

You don't always need two or more people to play games. You can play different kinds of games alone. Whether you want to play a computer game or games on paper, you can find various single-player games. If you can't find others to play with or if you prefer to play alone, single-player games can entertain and challenge you.
  1. Electronic Games

    • One player plays "Simon," an electronic memory game by Hasbro. It consists of a device with four different colored lights that blink and make sounds. The player tries to reproduce the order in which the lights blinked. "Bop it" by Hasbro is a one- or multiple-player game with different versions. The original "Bop it" is a toy with different devices for players to twist, pull and press different components as an electronic voice command instructs. In another version, "Bop it Bounce," an electronic voice command prompts players to bounce a ball on a device. Games include how long you can keep on bouncing a ball or how many times you can bounce a ball in a given time.

    Video Games

    • You can play hundreds of video games alone, whether they are for video consoles, such as the Xbox, PC, Mac, PlayStation, Wii, PSP or apps for your iPhone or Android. Genres for games that you can be play alone include action/adventure, shooting, casino, racing, singing, dancing, word games, sports games and fitness games. Some examples are shooter games, like "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon" series, "Dead to Rights" and the "Halo" series. Examples of single-player action/adventure games include "The Legend of Zelda," "Resident Evil," and the "Final Fantasy" series.

    Card Games

    • You can play card games alone on the computer or with a real deck of cards. "Solitaire," also known as "Patience," is a single-player card game wherein the main objective is to clear stacks of cards based on suits and in a certain order. Different versions of solitaire include spider solitaire, free cell, blackjack rush and pyramid. The rules of each game are different and some have different difficulty levels, such as playing with one, two, three or four suits -- spades, hearts, diamonds or clubs -- but the main objective is the same.

    Puzzle Games

    • Puzzle games are usually meant to be played alone and you can play them in different ways. "Minesweeper" is a puzzle game that you can play on the computer and "Bejeweled", "Tetris" and "Collapse" are some puzzle games that you can play online. Rubik's cube is a well-known puzzle game that you can play alone. Puzzle games that you can play on paper include crossword puzzles, word unscrambles, mazes and number games, including Sudoku.
