Balloon Activities
Give each boy an inflated balloon and a permanent marker. Ask the boys to draw a self-portrait on the balloons. Have the boys toss their balloons in a pile. Hold up one balloon at a time and tell the boys to try to guess who is portrayed on the balloon. For another balloon activity, have the boys stand in a circle and toss a couple of inflated balloons in the center. Tell the boys to keep the balloons in the air. Every 15 to 30 seconds, add more balloons to the circle. The boys must work together to keep all the balloons in the air.
Relay Activities
Divide the boys into two teams. Mark a starting line and finish line 20 feet apart. Give the first player in each team line a tennis ball. When you say "Go," the boys must place the tennis balls between their knees and hop to the finish line. They must then hand the ball to the next player in line who must do the same thing. The first team to have all its players finish the relay wins the activity. To make the relay more difficult, have the scouts hit the tennis ball in the air on a tennis racket instead of placing it between their knees.
Holiday Hunt Activities
Since many boys love hunting for items, create a holiday-themed scavenger hunt for the boys. Give the boys paper sacks and have them hunt for the items. For a Halloween hunt, hide plastic spiders, bugs, miniature pumpkins and fangs. You can hide candy canes, peppermints, small plastic snowmen and toy reindeer for Christmas. Hide small flags for the Fourth of July or Memorial Day.
Tossing Activities
Have all the boys stand 10 feet from a wall and give each player a penny. When you say "Toss," the boys must toss their pennies as close as they can to the wall without touching it or hitting it. The player who tosses the penny closest to the wall without touching it or hitting it wins the activity. Increase the difficulty by having the boys take one giant step back after each toss.
