How to Stop Traps in Yu-Gi-Oh!

Trap cards in the card game Yu-Gi-Oh! are utility cards that have uses like removing creatures from the game or preventing all damage. Spell cards or counter-trap cards can be used to stop or remove a trap card your opponent has put down. Some spell cards can be used during your turn to destroy activated or face down trap cards. Counter-trap cards are marked by a curved arrow symbol and can negate the activation of your opponents trap cards completely but with extra costs.

Instructions

    • 1

Wait until your opponent places down a trap card.

    • 2

Place down a counter-trap card during your turn that has the ability to negate the activation of your opponent's trap card. Or if you have a spell card that can destroy trap cards you can use it during your turn or after the opponent's trap card has been activated.

    • 3

Use your counter-trap card or spell card when your opponent attempts to activate his trap card. If using a counter-trap card, be ready to pay whatever the activation requirement is, usually sacrificing a monster card or health.

    • 4

Negate or destroy your opponent's trap card and he will have to remove it from the game.
