At Home Mardi Gras Games for Everyone to Play

When planning a Mardi Gras party at home, create a few games that guests of all ages can play. Games give your guests a chance to meet and make new friends, as well as win prizes. Awarding prizes like feathered masks, beads and Mardi Gras-themed temporary tattoos will keep your party guests ready for the next game. All you need are a few inexpensive supplies and game ideas to get the party started.
  1. Mask Decorating Contests

    • Create a mask-decorating contest for the children and adults. Have the children sit around a table and place several supplies for them to use on the table. Use supplies like feathers, markers, glitter pens, glue, glitter, paint and rhinestones. After the children finish, allow the adults to do the same thing. Award prizes to the best, most creative and funniest Mardi Gras masks for the adults and children.

    Paper Games

    • Make a Mardi Gras word scramble by scrambling words like cake, queen, king, mask, feather and Bourbon Street on a sheet of paper. Give each player a word scramble and the first player to guess all the words correctly wins the game. Allow the adults and children to do this game separately. For another paper game, write "Mardi Gras" at the top of several sheets of paper. Divide the players into teams and give each team a sheet of paper. Give the teams three minutes to come up with as many words as they can using only the letters from the words "Mardi Gras." The team who comes up with the most correct words wins the game.

    Hunt Games

    • Hide several beads around the play area. When you say "Go," the players must find as many beads as they can and hang the beads around their neck. The player who finds the most beads wins the game. For another hunt idea, hide gold coins all over the play area. Give the players a small plastic bag to collect the coins. The player who finds the most coins wins the game.

    Tossing Games

    • Place green, purple and gold plastic cups on a table. Write a point value on the front of each cup. Have adults stand 10 feet from the cups and the children stand 5 feet from the cups. Give each player 10 gold coins to try to toss into the cups. The adult and child who score the most points out of 10 tosses win the game. For a variation, spread the cups out on the table and have the players try to toss beads around the cups. If they ring a cup, they earn the corresponding amount of points.
