How to Build a Sphere in Minecraft

"Minecraft" is a sandbox-construction game that has recently become popular. The game has no defined purpose, rather it allows the user to use cubes (blocks) and their imagination to construct buildings, images and other objects. The game is available on PC and Mac platforms. When playing "Minecraft" you may wish to build spheres, which, in a game made purely of cubes might seem like putting a square peg in a round hole. The result will be perfect hollow spheres of any size, in any material and made from the absolute minimum amount of resources.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to Plotz (see Resources). Select the diameter of your sphere in the "Size" box. The number of blocks needed to build your sphere is displayed in the top-left corner.

    • 2

Open and log in to "Minecraft" on your computer and gather enough blocks of your chosen material(s) to complete your sphere. For example, a sphere with a diameter of 15 requires 530 blocks.

    • 3

Construct your sphere by returning to Plotz and setting the"'show up to layer" box to 1.

    • 4

Place your blocks in the patterns shown in the Plotz diagram. Once you have completed layer 1, press the '+' symbol to view layer 2 and place the blocks as shown. Once a layer is completed, move up a layer in Plotz and continue in this fashion until the sphere is complete.
