Pin the Hair
Pick one person in the family to use as the center of your game. Take a photo of the person wearing a skull cap, making them look bald. Take the image to a copy center, poster shop or photograph shop and have it blown into a larger image for your game board. Ask your kids to make fake wigs from construction paper and decorative paper, making hair pieces that fit the head on the image. When you play the game, take turns wearing a blindfold and attempting to get the wig onto the image's head.
Homemade Board Games
Turn family members and past experiences into a fun board game. Take your favorite board game and find ways to incorporate those items into the game. For example, cover a Monopoly board with new locations, including grandma's house or places you went as a family. Create your own cards, such as a free $10 to spend on souvenirs at the Grand Canyon, when you took a family trip there together. Use your experiences as inspiration for your own game board.
Toss Games
Create a toss game from sheets of fabric, beans, paint and plywood. Cut two pieces of plywood to the same size and shape, then cut a hole in the center of the board. Sew together two pieces of fabric and fill with dried beans to make bean bags. Paint the boards with the colors of your favorite team or a design of your choosing. Lean the boards against stacks of bricks and take turns trying to toss the bean bags through the holes.
Sports Ideas
If your family likes spending time outside, consider making a sports-themed game. Use PVC pipe attached together to make a batting cage or soccer goal post. Drape netting or a lightweight material over the back to keep the ball from flying across the lawn or out onto the street. Play teams of parents against kids or girls against boys.
