Fall Game Ideas for Christian Preschoolers

As the leaves change colors to brown, orange and yellow, everyone knows fall is here. When planning a Christian fall festival for preschoolers or just teaching them about the season, plan some exciting games to give thanks and remember all the things God has done. Awarding Christian-themed prizes, such as plastic cross rings, pocket Bibles, "What Would Jesus Do?" bracelets and biblical bookmarks to all game winners will encourage the children to try their best.
  1. Thankful Relay Race

    • Explain to the preschoolers how each one of them should have something to be thankful for like clothes, a house or wonderful parents. Divide the children into two teams for a relay race. Cut the letters of the word "thankful" out and be sure to make two of each letter. Place the letters scattered on a table. Mark a starting line 15 feet from the table. Before you start the race, have each preschooler say one thing that she is thankful for and why. When you say "Race," the first preschooler in each team line must run to the table and grab one letter. When he runs back and tags the next player in line, she must do the same thing. Each player must grab one letter from the word "thankful." The first team to have all the letters wins the race.

    Biblical Ring Toss

    • Scatter a variety of gourds on the ground. Draw pictures or write words, such as WWJD (What Would Jesus Do), a cross, Jesus, a Bible and Noah's Ark, on each one of the gourds. Mark a standing line 10 feet from the gourds. Give the children plastic rings to try to toss onto the gourds. Plastic rings are available at craft stores or you can make your own using rope and duct tape. Award a small prize for each preschooler who rings a gourd. If a preschooler rings a gourd, tell him to say the biblical word or picture on that gourd.

    Fall Christian Bible Bingo

    • Make bingo cards with pictures of fall-themed and biblical items, such as Indian corn, a cross, a pumpkin, a Bible, fall leaves and a gourd. Print the same pictures and place them in a bowl. Give each preschooler one bingo card and a bowl of bingo markers. Draw the pictures out of the bowl and have the preschoolers mark their cards. The first preschooler to get a bingo horizontally, vertically or diagonally and yell "It's Fall," wins the game.

    Pumpkin Pass

    • Tie a biblical bookmark to the stem of a small pumpkin. Have all the preschoolers sit in a circle and hand the pumpkin to one player. Play music and tell the preschoolers to pass the pumpkin around the circle. When the music stops, the player holding the pumpkin is out of the game. Keep playing the music and eliminating a player each round. The last player in the game is the winner and wins the pumpkin with the biblical bookmark.
