Polar Bear Games for Preschoolers

When teaching preschoolers about polar bears, you can incorporate the furry white animals into exciting games for the children to play. Games can teach preschoolers about colors and shapes, as well as help them with coordination and movement. Awarding small polar bear-themed prizes to game winners and participants will encourage the young children to play each game.
  1. Polar Bear Fishing

    • Print pictures of fish from online and be sure to print two of each fish. Cut out the fish and place a paper clip between two of the same fish. With the fish pictures facing the outside, glue them together (make sure the paper clip is still inside the fish. Attach a piece of yarn to a wooden dowel and attach a magnet to the end of the yarn. Laminate the fish and place them in a bucket of water. Tell the preschoolers they are the polar bears and they must catch some fish to eat. Have each preschooler stand beside the bucket and catch as many fish as he can. Award each preschooler a participation prize.

    Polar Bear Wrap

    • Divide the preschoolers into teams of three or four and have each team designate one player to be the "polar bear." Give each team two rolls of toilet paper. Have the designated polar bears get on all fours. When you say "Go," they must wrap their team polar bear with toilet paper. The first team to use both rolls of toilet paper and have their team polar bear covered with toilet paper wins the game. For safety reasons, tell the children not to cover the mouth and nose of the preschoolers with toilet paper.

    Polar Bear Fish Toss

    • Draw or print a picture of a polar bear's head with his mouth open and put it on a large poster board. Tape the poster board to the bottom of a cardboard box and cut the mouth out. Lean the box up against a wall or pole. Mark a standing line 5 feet from the box. Give the children fish-shaped beanbags to toss into the polar bear's mouth. Award a prize to each child who makes a beanbag in the bear's mouth.

    Polar Bear Pass

    • Have all the preschoolers sit in a circle and hand one player a large plush polar bear. Play music and tell them to pass the polar bear around the circle. When the music stops, the player holding the polar bear is out of the game. Keep playing, eliminating the player holding the polar bear each round. The last player left in the game wins the plush polar bear. Award small participation prizes to each preschooler.
