How to Add Fake Grass to a Warhammer Base

Warhammer is a game that uses miniature characters as game pieces. Part of the appeal of Warhammer is that players can paint and base each miniature character however they like. Adding static grass to the base of a Warhammer miniature is not difficult, and it gives a more realistic and higher quality appearance to the model. Static grass is made from small, thread-like particles colored green or brown to represent grass. The pieces are then charged with static electricity so they stand upright when glued to the model base.

Things You'll Need

Static grass
Bowl
PVA glue
Small old paintbrush
Acrylic paints

Instructions

  Pour about two inches of static grass into a bowl.

  Thin the glue with water using a three parts glue to one part water mixture. Mix until blended.

  Brush the glue onto the base where you want the grass to be located. You can cover the entire base with glue, or just apply it in patches. If you have sand or rocks on the base, you probably don't want to cover those areas with grass.

  Dip the miniature into the bowl, burying the base in the grass. Allow it to sit for about one minute.

  Remove the miniature from the grass. Blow gently on the grass to remove excess particles and help the grass stand up. Allow the glue to dry for 24 hours before storing or using the miniatures.

  Brush the base gently with a dry paintbrush to remove any loose particles of grass before storing.
