Verse Hunt
Participants search for specific words in a Bible verse scavenger hunt. The group is supplied with one Bible per person. Any translation of the Bible will work for the scavenger hunt. The game instructor calls out one word at a time to the group. The players have one minute to search through the Bible for a scripture containing the word. For example, the instructor may call out the word "blessed." The first person to find a verse with the word wins a point. Continue the game for several rounds and the winner has the highest score.
Jelly Beans
The Jelly Bean hunt teaches young children Biblical values. Hide jelly beans of all different colors in a classroom or small field. The instructor should talk to the children about the metaphorical meanings of the jelly bean colors. For example, the red candy represents the blood of Jesus Christ, which saves lives. The green candy represents the new life Christ gives. The blue jelly beans represent water and nourishment from the Bible. After explanation of the colors, children search the room for the candy. The instructor should count the candy to find the winner with the most.
Bible Character
To play the Bible character scavenger hunt, give an index card to each participant. They must keep the contents of the card a secret. On each card should be a Bible character's name and a small description. For example, Noah built an ark that saved animals from the great flood. All participants have to ask each other questions about the character they were assigned. They answer questions to give clues about their Bible character. The person who identifies everyone's hidden Bible character wins the scavenger hunt.
Songs
Children sing Bible songs often, but do not know where the lyrics come from. The group can sing a Bible song such as, "Jesus Loves the Little Children" and then find a relating scripture. "Father Abraham" is another popular Bible song. Sing the song with the children and have them search the Bible for the story of Abraham. Give students a set amount of time to search the Bible to make them search faster.
