Free Real Arcade Games

Arcades are venues were people can play video games and pinball games on coin-operated consoles. Characteristics of arcade games include short levels, quickly increasing difficulty and simple controls. More recently, online games that have many of the characteristics of traditional coin-operated games are referred to as "arcade games". However, there is still a demand for free online versions of classic games found in traditional brick-and-mortar arcades.

Pac-Man
- Every video game fan is familiar with the classic game "Pac-Man." In the online version of this well-known game, players use arrow controls to navigate Pac-Man, a two-dimensional yellow circle with a mouth, through a maze filled with small dots and pieces of fruit that he must collect in order to earn points. Throughout the maze are colorful ghosts trying to hunt down Pac-Man. If he is caught by a ghost, he loses a life. If he collects all the dots in one maze, he moves on to the next level. Street Fighter
- "Street Fighter," and its various sequels and spin-offs, is a classic "beat 'em up" game where players face off, each as one of several unique characters, in a one-on-one battle with a real or computer-controlled opponent. Popular characters include Ryu, Ken, E.Honda, Sagat and Blanka. Each character has his own unique collection of fighting styles and special powers. Final Fight
- "Final Fight" is another classic fighting game. However, unlike "Street Fighter" it does not involve a one-on-one battle. Rather, players move through city streets fighting off wave after wave of attacking thugs. The game culminates in an attempt to rescue the mayor's daughter. Fighting moves include punches, helicopter kicks and flying jump kicks. Players may also crouch to avoid attacks from thugs and manipulate objects in the environment, such as barrels, to incapacitate enemies. Contra
- "Contra" allows players to take on the role of a soldier in South America as he fights off an alien invasion. The game mostly uses the side-scrolling format familiar to fans of Super Mario Bros. and many other games. Players can collect "power ups" to help them on their way. They may also collect different kinds of weapons, including the "spread gun" and "flame thrower." Each weapon lends itself to a different attack strategy.
