Light Saber Games

According to StarWars.com a light saber is the preferred weapon of a Jedi knight. It features a metallic handle with an on-switch for the energy shaft that activates from a crystal located in the handle. Once activated, the yard-long energy shaft is wielded by the Jedi much like a battle sword. Star Wars has inspired board games, online games, gaming-system modules, as well as free-play, direct-contact light saber games.
  1. Board Games

    • For light saber fans interested in a non-contact version of a light saber game, Milton Bradley has a "Star Wars Galactic Heroes" game. It features a pop-up, 3-D battle arena and small action figures of a Jedi knight and a Sith lord. The warrior action figures carry their light sabers as they navigate the battle arena, engaging in light saber battles along the way. The winner is the player whose action figure wins the most light saber battles.

    Online Games

    • Light saber fans that love computer games can find many online sites that feature their own games.

For light saber game fans that are always looking for a new challenge, many online websites offer light saber games. Some sites are for members only, and participants must register and pay subscription fees. Other sites, such as Aeonity Games and Lego Star Wars, are free, and the types of games change intermittently. Be aware that not all free game sites have the best graphics or interactive capabilities.

    Gaming System Games

    • Hand-held and television gaming systems feature light saber games.

Gaming systems, such as PlayStation, Wii and Xbox, have light saber battle games designed specifically to be played on their system. Gamers can choose to be Jedi or Sith players and can engage the digital game itself or play against a friend. Some of the gaming systems have accessory pieces shaped like real light sabers for the gamers to wield during their battles. Some of the light saber games include: Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes, Star Wars Battlefront, Lego Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga.

    Free-play, Direct-contact Games

    • Direct-contact light saber fighting should be gentle and not include body shots.

For some light saber fans, free-play, direct-contact games where the participants engage each other with replica light sabers are the ultimate light saber games. Hasbro makes a variety of replica light sabers with different-colored energy blades specifically designed for interactive play. Some replicas light up, make sounds or vibrate. The participants choose which character they want to be and decide the basic rules of engagement. Gamers should be aware that any direct-contact game can cause injury if the participants aren't careful and wearing protective gear.
