PC Games
For girls who can use a PC, there are more choices of pet-washing games than you can shake a scrubbing brush at. For those who prefer a lot of customization, EA's "Sims2: Pets" is a good choice, but it tends to focus heavily upon satisfying many demands of the pets rather than focusing on pet grooming. Legacy Games' "Pet Pals: Animal Doctor" is a bit more focused on pet grooming, but also features a pet healing aspect that many girls will enjoy. BigFish Games' "Cat Wash" is a time-management game that is entertaining, but may prove a bit challenging for younger girls.
Online Games
For pure pet-bathing entertainment, few gaming systems can compete with the variety and "sudsy goodness" of the online pet-bathing games. Add to this the fact that these games are absolutely free to play and will work on any computer that can run Adobe Flash, and you have a value that is hard to beat. Online communities such as Dressup Me and GirlsgoGames contain a number of pet-bathing games such as "Pet Grooming Salon" or "Puppy Center," which are geared specifically to girls. The only downside to these sites is that the game volumes tend to run a bit loud.
Console Games
Console games bring the pet-washing experience of PC games without the need for parental supervision or complex controls. Games such as EA's "Sim2: Pets" are available on many platforms such as PS2 and Wii, and bring the same features of the PC version with a simplified interface. EA's "Littlest Pet Shop" has some pet-grooming features, but tends to focus more upon mini-games and accessories. THQ's "Barbie Groom" and "Glam Pups" for the Wii console has more pet-grooming than most console games, but like many of the others, also focuses on fashion.
Portable Games
Portable game systems have a selection of pet-washing games only to be rivaled by online sources. Aside from the traditional games such as EA's "Sims2: Pets" and "Littlest Pet Shop" (which exist on full-blown consoles and the PC), games abound that are specific to the hand-held gaming market. The Nintendo DS has a number of fantastic pet-washing and grooming games such as "Hamsterz Life," "Nintendogs" and "Pets Pals: New Leash on Life," which use the touch pad interface to create a realistic interaction with the game animals.
