How the Dart Board Works
Locate the numbers along the edges of the dart board. These numbers are the point values you receive in the corresponding section of the dart board. The different colored sections below each number represent different point multipliers.
Follow the rings starting from the outermost ring until you reach the bulls eye. The first thin ring around the dart board represents a double point multiplier. For example, if you hit 15 on the first outer ring, you receive 30 points.
Locate the two largest ring sections. These sections are separated between a thin ring section. These two large sections represent a single point multiplier. This means you do not multiply your points if you receive any on your throw.
Find the thin ring separating the two largest ring sections. This ring represents a triple point multiplier. Multiply your points by three.
Look at the bulls eye and find the two colors located within. The outer color represents 25 points and the inner color represents 50 points.
How to Play 301
Choose a team captain to throw a dart to determine which team goes first. The team that gets closest to the bulls eye starts.
Allow each team member to throw their darts at the board. Add up the points accumulated and subtract that total from 301. When finished, allow the other team to take their turn.
Continue taking turns until one team reaches 0. The winning team must reach 0 points exactly or hit the center bulls eye on the final throw to win. If the team accumulates more points than necessary, the team returns to their last point total.
How to Throw Darts
Hold the darts by the barrel between your thumb, index and middle fingers. Hold with moderate pressure.
Square your body toward the dart board with your right leg extended out. Plant both feet firmly on the floor for maximum stabilization during a throw.
Hold the dart with your throwing arm in a bent position. Extend your arm quickly towards the board and release without leaning your body forward. Practice the throwing mechanics to determine the strength and angle necessary for you to reach the board.
