Giraffe Games for Kids

When getting ready for a child's party, prepare games and activities to go with your theme. For an animal or safari themed party, plan on animal games, decorations and favors. With their distinctive height, long necks and friendly faces, giraffes delight kids and inspire a wonderful set of party games. For an extra touch, award animal toys to game winners and give out small bags with animal themed favors to all party-goers at the end of the party.
  1. Pin the Tail on the Giraffe

    • Instead of the classic party game Pin the Tail on the Donkey, have the children play Pin the Tail on the Giraffe. Draw a giraffe, minus the tail, on a large piece of poster board. Make a giraffe tail for each child. Write the children's names on the tails. Let each child take a turn trying to place the tail on the giraffe while blindfolded. The one who gets the closes wins.

    Giraffe Hunt

    • Send your guests on a safari to spot giraffes. For younger children hide giraffes all around the room or outdoor area where your party is being held and send them hunting. You can usually find large bags of safari animals that contain giraffes at party or craft stores. If you are crafty, make your own giraffes out of paper towel rolls or clothespins. You can also stick a giraffe sticker on an index card and hide those. For older children only hide two or three giraffes, divide the children into teams and give each team a list of clues to help find the giraffes.

    Giraffe Trivia

    • Gather older children to play a game of giraffe trivia. Give each a card with "true" written on one side and "false" on the other. Line the children up and read statements, both true and false, about giraffes. After you read a statement, each child holds up her card to show whether she thinks it is true or not. Everyone who is wrong sits down and the others continue to play. Play until only one child is left or until you run out of statements.

    Giraffalaff Limbo

    • If you want to purchase a giraffe game, this limbo game will really get kids moving. Each child takes a turn spinning a spinner to see how he has to walk under the limbo pole. He might have to do a traditional limbo, a crabwalk or even a giraffe walk. Then he tries to go under the pole without bumping into the laughing giraffe that hangs from the middle.

    Giraffe Puzzle Race

    • Glue a few large giraffe posters to poster board or cardboard. You can also draw your own giraffes on poster board. Then cut the posters into large puzzle pieces. Divide the children into teams. Each team must work together to solve its puzzle first.
