Chicken Soup for the Kid's Soul Game Instructions

In the Chicken Soup for the Kid's Soul board game, players cook the soup by making choices and acting out life's lessons. It is a game for 2 to 6 players, ages 8 and older. Each player selects a moving piece and places it on the start space. The "Life's Ingredients" cards are divided into six piles representing love, hope, joy, faith and peace. Instructions

    • 1

Begin the game by rolling the dice and moving the number of spaces indicated. The player picks a card of the same color and picture as the space he landed on. There are four decks of activities cards including "Attitudes and Perspectives," "Choices," "Overcoming Obstacles" and "Family and Friends."

    • 2

Play the "Menu Match" activity by completing a situation and asking other players to guess what you will say. For example, you are on a playground and a fight breaks out. Will you...a) join in; b) run to find help; or c) try to stop the fight? Write down an answer and if the another player matches your choice, you may take a "Life's Ingredients" card.

    • 3

Play the "Noodle It Out" activity by creating and matching lists. For example, list three rock bands you would like see in a concert. Write down the three bands and ask the other players to write down their choices. If your answer matches two answers from any of the players, you may take a "Life's Ingredients" card.

    • 4

Use a sand timer while telling real stories about yourself in the "What's Cookin'?" activity. The story must last 30 seconds, but no longer. If successful, you may take any of the "Life's Ingredients" cards.

    • 5

Complete the "Stir It Up" activity by telling a story using sounds or actions. Convey what is on the card to the group. If another player guesses what you are trying to portray, take a "Life's Ingredients" card.

    • 6

Continue to play around the game path. Roll the dice. Move the correct number of spaces. Select cards and follow the instructions on the board spaces and cards. When you collect all six "Life's Ingredients" cards, say "Soup's Done." You've won the game.
