Squirrel Games

Fictional squirrels such as Rocky the Flying Squirrel, Sandy Cheeks from "SpongeBob Squarepants" and striped squirrels Alvin and the Chipmunks help the fast-moving creatures maintain a place in pop culture. Games featuring Sandy Cheeks and other squirrels challenge players to collect nuts and other treats, as well as battle enemies and overcome obstacles.
  1. Board/Card Games

    • Players compete to score acorn points in Gamewright's "Go Nuts," recommended for ages 8 and up. During a turn, players roll five dice featuring acorns, squirrels and cars; players add up acorns and discard car dice. Players may re-roll acorn and squirrel dice. Rolling all squirrels in a single roll results in players losing accumulated points in that round and forces a "Go Nuts" round, in which players repeatedly roll the squirrel dice while opponents roll the dog/house dice. When all opponents roll dogs, players stop rolling the squirrel dice and record the total number of rolled acorns during the round. The first player to reach 50 points wins. Players try to fill their log with acorns before opponents in "The Sneaky, Snacky Squirrel Game," recommended for ages 3 and up. The spinner determines whether players put acorns in their logs' matching-color holes; steal acorns from opponents; lose a turn; or return all of their acorns to the tree.

    Online Games

    • Squirrels jump from cloud to cloud in "Go Squirrel Go," accessible at The Game Homepage. Nuts carry a value of 100 points, while each cloud players jump on carries a value 10 points higher than the last one. A squirrel family tries to collect as much food as possible in "Squirrel Mania," found at Free Online Games. Players press the arrow keys to move and bounce the squirrel off the leaf. After the squirrel collects all the food, players advance to the next level. Players race to collect as many acorns and crowns as possible in "Squirrel Squash," found at 1UpFreeGames. While running, players hold down the spacebar to gain additional speed.

    Sandy Cheeks Online Games

    • Nickelodeon's official SpongeBob SquarePants site hosts games focusing on Sandy Cheeks, SpongeBob's squirrel pal. SpongeBob and Sandy spar in "Kah Ray Tay Contest," in which players unleash attack moves on either character. Once players land three consecutive hits, three stars appear over the defeated character. At this point, players click the defeated character to have SpongeBob or Sandy perform a special finishing move. In "Robot Ruckus," Sandy battles oncoming robots, while "Sandy's Shrubbery Shakedown" gives players five tries to shoot all acorns down from Sandy's tree. In "Sandy Chop Chop," players collect as many acorns as possible before time runs out.

    Video Games

    • Players help Hammy the squirrel and company steal food from humans and free animals in Activision's "Over the Hedge," available on most major video game platforms and PC. Picking up where the 2006 film left off, the game also features RJ the raccoon, Stella the skunk and Verne the turtle. TV fanatic Hammy seeks R.J. and Verne's help when his cable goes out in Activision's "Over the Hedge: Hammy Goes Nuts," available for the PlayStation Portable platform. In the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS versions of the game, players engage in miniature-golf action and help Boris the Beaver create a dam, respectively.
