Music Games
Record several pop songs on a blank CD or MP3 player. If you do not have either one of these, you can use the radio. However, you might have to type some of the song lyrics into a search engine on the Internet to find the name and artist of songs. Give each girl a sheet of paper and a pencil. Play about 10 seconds of each song and have the girls write down the name of the song. The girl who correctly identifies the most songs wins the game. For another variation, award an extra point for each artist name the girl answers correctly. The girl with the most points wins the game.
Balloon Games
If you have a bag of balloons lying around your home, create some balloon games for the older girls. Have a balloon relay race by marking a starting line and a run-to line about 15 feet apart. Divide the girls into two teams and have them line up at the starting line. Give the first player in each team line an inflated balloon. When you say "Race," the first girl in line must bump the balloon in the air to the run-to line and back to the next player in her team line. Each girl must bump the balloon to the line and back. The first team to finish wins the game. For another balloon game, have each girl select a partner. Place an inflated balloon between the backs of each pair. The first pair to pop the balloon using only their backs wins the game.
Fingernail Polish Games
Most everyone has a couple of bottles of nail polish at home. Have the girls sit around a table and place a couple of bottles of nail polish on the table. Each girl paints and designs the girl's fingernails to her right. Give the girls toothpicks to use to create designs on the nails. Award prizes for the most creative, best and scariest fingernail designs. For another nail polish game, place a bottle of nail polish in the middle. The girls take turns spinning it. Each time the bottle stops spinning, the girl who the lid is pointing at must paint one of her nails. The first girl to have all of her nails painted wins the game.
Girl Quiz Games
Make a list of several questions about famous girls. Question examples include "who tried to get home to Kansas in a hot air balloon? (Answer: Dorothy from Wizard of Oz)" and "what girl brings a basket of goodies to her grandmother? (Answer: Little Red Riding Hood). Each girl receives one point for each correct answer. The girl with the most points at the end of the game wins. For a variation, have the girls take the quiz in teams and award a prize to the team who answers the most girl questions correctly.
