Rainy Day Birthday Games

When you have planned the entire birthday party only to find out it is going to rain all day, create a few indoor games to keep your party guests entertained. With pre-party planning, some ideas and a few supplies, you can create indoor birthday games for everyone at the party. Encourage everyone to participate by awarding small prizes to all the game winners.
  1. Indoor Scavenger Hunts

    • Divide the players into teams of three or four. Give each team three or four magazines and a list of 25 random items. List items examples include a car, a balloon, a shoe, money and a hat. The first team to find 20 of the 25 items on their list and cut the items out of the magazine wins the game. For a small group of player, have them compete individually and give each player two magazines.

    Balloon Games

    • Have each player select a partner. Give each team of two an inflated balloon. When you say "Go," the players must place the balloon between their backs and attempt to pop it. The first team to pop their balloon using only their backs wins the game. For another variation, tell the players they can only use their stomachs or arms to pop the balloon together.

    Circle Games

    • Write numbers on sheets of paper and place them in a circle; make at least one number for each party guest. Write the same numbers on small slips of paper and place them in a bowl. Play music and have the party guests walk around the circle. When the music stops, tell the players to stand on a number. Draw two or three numbers from the bowl and award a party favor to each player standing on those numbers. For a variation, award larger prizes and only draw one number each round.

    Relay Games

    • Plan an indoor relay game by marking a starting line and run-to line about 15 feet apart. Divide the players into two teams and have the teams line up at the starting line. Give each player a plastic spoon and the first player in each team line a plastic egg. When you say "Race," the first player in each team line must place the spoon in his mouth and place the egg on the spoon. He must race to the run-to line and back to the starting line to hand off the egg to the next player in line. Each teammate must do the same thing. The first team to finish the race wins the game. For another variation, use a cotton ball instead of a plastic egg.
