Tiger Scout Activities & Crafts

The first level in the Boy Scouts of America organization is the Tiger Cub Scout. Tiger Cub Scouts are boys in the first grade who are about 7 years old. When planning a Tiger Scout meeting, plan a couple of crafts and activities to keep the boys entertained. A few ideas and some supplies are all you need to get started.
  1. Marshmallow Activities

    • Create three marshmallow activities for the Tiger Scouts. Make the first station a throwing station. Mark a standing line and have boys toss marshmallows from the line. Give each boy two chances and mark where each marshmallow lands. The boy who throws it the farthest distance wins the activity. For the other stations, make a blowing station and a kicking station. Mark a line at each station. At the blowing station, the boys will put a marshmallow in their mouth and see how far they can blow it. At the kicking station, they must toss a marshmallow in the air and kick it as far as possible.

    Patriotic Crafts

    • The boys can make patriotic crafts for Memorial Day, Independence Day, Flag Day or Veteran's Day. For a simple patriotic craft, give the boys blue, red and white craft foam. They can use it to make patriotic pictures or a patriotic visor. Give each boy a red, white or blue visor. They can glue the foam onto the visors to make them look patriotic. For another craft, give the boys red, white and blue beads. The beads should be tiny and have holes in the middle of them. The boys can thread the beads onto safety pins to create patriotic designs and wear them on their shirts.

    Scavenger Hunt Activities

    • Plan an outdoor scavenger hunt for the Tiger Scouts. Write down 25 nature items the boys can find outdoors: a twig, a brown leaf, a blade of grass, a small piece of trash and a black rock, for example. Divide the boys into teams and give each team a list of items. The first team to find 20 of the 25 items wins the game. For a variation, have the boys do this scavenger hunt individually.

    Scrapbook Crafts

    • Have the boys bring pictures of themselves and their family members. The boys will use these photos to create a family scrapbook. Tell them to make a page about themselves and one page for each family member. For the final page, the boys should create a family page with interesting facts all about his family. For added fun, allow each boy a chance to share his scrapbook with the other scouts. The Tiger Scouts can make their own scrapbook as a group by using construction paper or you can give each boy an empty scrapbook to use for this project.
