Fun Games for Anyone

Playing is fundamental and instinctive. It provides a way to stimulate the brain and the body, is a way to develop creativity and problem-solving skills and helps us to be more flexible, inventive and resilient. Play is also important for relieving stress and connecting with each other. When you're in a group comprising people of various ages, consider playing fun games for anyone, at any skill level.
  1. Card Games

    • With a basic set of cards, everyone can get together for a simple, yet fun game of Fish. As soon as a young child can match, she can play this game. Or she can help an older sibling, parent or grandparent until old enough to play on her own. Other card games that are easy to learn and play include Slap Jack, War, Old Maid, Crazy Eights and Spoons.

    Board Games

    • Board games have been played at least since 2600 BC or so, when Senet was played in ancient Egypt. Originally games were strictly for adults and were about warfare, but in the 1800s board games started to be sold commercially and quickly became a family favorite for entertainment and bonding. Although geared for small children Candyland is a fun game for all ages. Other great family games include Chutes and Ladders, the Game of Life, Apples to Apples, Clue, Scattergories, Sorry and Monopoly.

    Computer Games

    • Computers are an integral part of people's lives today, so it only makes sense that people play on the computer too. There are computer versions of classic board and card games, but there are other great games that can be played on the computer. Most of these games are for single players, some can be played with multiple players, but it can be a harder to get the family around a computer than around an actual table with a board game in the middle. Family-friendly computer games can be found on online at Disney's Website, HubWorld or many other websites. Family computer games can also be found in department stores and electronic stores

    Video Games

    • While most video games are geared towards older kids, teens and adults, there are some games available for younger kids too. Most games are available on each gaming console, including PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo DS and Wii, but there are some games that are not. Check that the game works on the console you own prior to buying it. Family-friendly video games include the games available on Family Game Night, Super Mario Bros., Nintendogs, and Tetris.

    Dice Games

    • Dice games are great because they can be played just about anywhere, don't require game boards or other tools to play, and you can play with as many people as needed. For some great family fun with dice, consider a game such as Farkle, Pig, Poker Dice, Beat That or Mountain.
