Timed Keyboarding Games

Like most skills, people can perform the basics of typing within a much shorter amount of time than it takes to do it well. To perfect this skill, many people employ repetitive drills, which can be mundane, causing them not to be done as frequently as they should be. Making these drills fun, and allotting a set amount of time for each one, can be useful. Timed typing games can help those wishing to perfect their typing skills.

Keyboard Triathlon
- In the game Keyboard Triathlon, available on Free Typing Game website, players choose the keys they wish to practice and the words-per-minute goal for the lesson. The student is then tested in multiple 30-second rounds, some of which focus on individual letters and some that require students to type words. Players can create customized games using characters they choose.
Numpad Kenny's
- Numpad Kenny's is a 10-key typing game presented by Learning Games For Kids. In the game, players must "whack" the Kenny's by pressing the number on the number pad that corresponds with the numbered whole of the Kenny. The first level is five seconds long and to advance to the next level players must whack the required amount of Kenny's. For the first level that amount is 10. The amount of Kenny's that need to be whacked for players to get to the next level increases with every level.
Fast Typer
- Fast Typer, which can be found on the Free Online Typing Games site, is a game in which players start out with 30 seconds on the stopwatch. With that time students type three-letter words as quickly as they can. If players can type 10 words correctly (without any mistakes) within that 30 seconds, they will be rewarded with 10 seconds added to the time that remains on their stopwatch. Players then must spell four-letter words. If they can reach 10 in a row again, they will be rewarded with a second time bonus. This continues until players run out of time.
Super Hyper Spider Typer
- Super Hyper Spider Typer, presented by Fun School, is a game in which players help an adorable spider escape the bellies of hungry lizards. The spider inches its way up the left side of the game screen. This takes 45 seconds, the amount of time each round last. The lizards slowly crawl from the right side of the screen toward the spider on the left. Players must type the letter on a lizard to make it shrink and run away before it reaches the spider. If players help the spider get safely to its web on the top of the screen, they reach the next level. As the game levels continue, the lizards move more quickly and the purple lizards are introduced, which require players to type two letters to deter them.
