Ecosystem Games

An ecosystem, or biome, is an area in which different species of animals and plants live and interact with one another. From the great tundras of the north to deciduous and tropical rain forests throughout the world, ecosystems have specific landscapes and climates to which these animals and plants have adapted. There are multiple games that can be played in the comfort of your home or even in the classroom to learn more about the different ecosystems.
  1. Rags to Riches Biome Game

    • The Rags to Riches biome game provided online by Quia is similar to the popular "Who Wants To Be a Millionaire" game show in which players must choose the correct answer to proceed to the next level of money earned. Rather than lifelines, players have three clues that can be used at any point in the game to help answer questions about various biomes. Using these clues does not affect the score.

    Eat or Be Eaten

    • Eat or Be Eaten, also provided online by Quia, is the same as the traditional game of Hangman. A clue that describes the various food chains found with in ecosystems is given to help with each puzzle. Players must guess the letters that make up the answer. For each wrong answer, a body part is drawn, hanging from a noose. If the entire body is drawn, the player does not receive points for that round. There are 11 rounds for which players can earn points.

    Kratts Creatures

    • The Kratts Creatures games is provided online by PBS Kids to help teach about the different animals found in each ecosystem. Players can move from one ecosystem to another using a map of the world. Each ecosystem offers a quiz game followed by a short video. Players can also collect eggs, footprints, skulls and more during their journey to win trophies and earn points. Game points and trophies are saved in each player's account.

    Magic School Bus

    • Magic School Bus games are provided online by Scholastic. There are seven Magic School Bus games to choose from such as The Great Habitat Match, Maze Craze and Monster Bugs. Each game teaches about the different aspects of an ecosystem such as the sounds animals make and the habitat they thrive in as well as the different landscape features like volcanoes. These are short games that are suitable for elementary grade children.
