Baseball Games
Setup a baseball diamond and all the bases. Divide the teens into two teams and have them play a game of baseball. For a funny game of baseball, duct tape a large beach towel around the end of a baseball bat. The players will use a beach ball instead of a baseball to hit. Players can throw the beach ball at one another to tag them out. To add to the fun, make the players hop or skip to the bases.
Volleyball Games
Place a volleyball net in the middle of the play area and have the teens play a regular game of volleyball. On a hot summer day, allow the teens to play water balloon volleyball. Give each team two large beach towels. The players must use the towel to catch and toss water balloons over the net. If a water balloon breaks within the playing area or a team drops it, the other team earns a point. The first team to earn 15 points wins the game. Another, but much slower, variation is to use balloon with no water in it.
Hockey Games
If you have hockey sticks and pucks, you can play a game of hockey on a concrete surface. Use sidewalk chalk to draw the lines and the goals. If you do not have hockey sticks and pucks, play a game of ball hockey. Players must use their feet as hockey sticks and tennis balls as pucks. The first team to get five goals wins the game.
Soccer Games
Use a rope or masking tape to create a small soccer field lines and place a goal at each end of the field. The field can be small, it just needs to have to goals and be similar in shape to a soccer field. Have the teens play a regular game of soccer and the first team to score five points wins the game. Other variations include playing soccer with a beach ball or wacky balloon. Create a wacky balloon by placing a rubber ball inside an inflated balloon. This will make the balloon move in different directions. Young teens may also want to play crab walk soccer, which mean all players must play in a crab walk position. The crab walk position is when a player's bottom is facing down and he walks on his hands and feet.
