Fun Challenge Games for Girls

Most girls enjoy a challenge when it comes to playing games. Whether you are planning a birthday party or social gathering for a group of girls, create a few challenging games that are sure to keep them busy and build confidence and self-esteem. With some inexpensive supplies and a creative imagination, you have everything you need to get started.
  1. Imagination Games

    • Divide the girls into groups of three or four. Give each team a paper sack with a roll of aluminum foil, tape, plastic wrap and a box of paper clips. Tell the girls they have 20 minutes to invent an item. They must build the item using only the supplies provided and be able to tell everyone what the item does. Award prizes to the best, most creative and funniest inventions. For a variation, have the girls build outfits, clothes and accessories with the items provided.

    Hula Hoop Games

    • Mark a starting line and a finish line 30 feet apart. Have all the girls line up at the starting line and give each one a hula hoop. When you say "Race," the girls must stand the hoop on the ground and roll it to the finish line. If a hoop falls over during the race, the girl must start over at the starting line. The first girl across the finish line wins the game. For a variation, divide the girls into teams and have a relay race. The girls have to roll the hoop to the finish line and back. The first team to finish the race wins the game.

    Trivia Games

    • Burn several popular songs to a CD or MP3 player before the gathering. Give each girl a sheet of paper and a pen. Play five to seven seconds of each song and have the girls write down the name of the song. The girl who answers the most songs correctly wins the game and a prize. Another idea is to award extra points for the artist's name.

    Scavenger Hunt Games

    • Hide several items all over the play area and write clues to the whereabouts of each item. Divide the girls into two teams and hide 10 items for each team. Write clues to all 10 items for each team. The first team to find all 10 items using their clues wins the game. For older girls, have a neighborhood scavenger hunt. Make a list of 10 random items like red nail polish, a roll of toilet paper, a napkin and a newspaper. Send the girls out in teams to find the items. The first team to find the items wins the race.
