"Rock Band"
For the band member who craves socialization, "Rock Band" is the best game. In Rock Band the players create their own band complete with lead guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, and drums. Each player controls a different "instrument" and plays the corresponding part onscreen for whatever song is selected. Players can trade instruments or controllers at any time and with new, downloadable, exclusive songs the possibilities are virtually endless.
"Guitar Hero"
While this game may not appeal to every band member, it is still challenging and encourages the player to think musically. The player takes control of a band and plays either bass or lead guitar, completing ascending levels of difficulty until becoming a true "guitar hero." The multiplayer features in the game are not as vast as Rock Band, but for a player not as interested in a cooperative mode it still makes for a good time.
"DJ Hero"
The percussionist in the band will appreciate this game. "DJ Hero" allows players to become a DJ and mix their own beats over top of popular songs. For those experimenting in beats and mixes it will prove to provide hours of entertainment. The turntable controller is creative and allows for a real-world experience.
"Just Dance"
Next-generation consoles like the Nintendo Wii have capitalized on motion-activated controllers to produce an enjoyable game. "Just Dance" is perfect for a band member wanting to hone their dancing skills or just have some fun. Just Dance allows the player to assume control of a character that, well, just dances. By mirroring the onscreen moves demonstrated by the computer players can achieve high scores on some modern songs. Those in the marching band will appreciate this game based on the amount of coordination and footwork that is necessary.
