Games on the Vice Presidents for Kids

The vice president of the United States acts as second-in-command of the U.S. Armed Forces as well as the acting president of the U.S. Senate. Parents and educators who wish to train students on the proper identification of the former and current vice president can utilize a number of easy to play games and contests. In addition, these games remain effective in both a traditional classroom and home-school environment.
  1. Name Game

    • To begin the game, instructors present school-age children with a list of names contained within a hat. The children must pull a name and identify the individual as the current or former vice president of the United States. When pulled from the hat, the names contained should identify both well-known political and pop culture figures.

    Match-Up

    • Instructors present children with a sheet containing two lists of names organized into two separate columns. One column contains the name of a former or current president of the United States. To successfully complete the game the children must match the president's name with that of the corresponding vice president. In addition, the names are presented to the children outside of correct chronological order.

    Picture

    • To play this game, parents and instructors present children with a photo of a number of the current or former vice presidents. The collection of photos should be mixed with images of singers, professional athletes and other pop culture figures. To successfully complete the game the children should simply indicate whether the photo contains the image of a vice president or not.

    Pronunciation

    • This game challenges children to correctly pronounce the names of the current or former vice presidents. Ideally, this game should be played with children in conjunction with an English lesson or with children participating in an early-age civics lesson.
