Beach Pictures
Have everyone work individually or in teams to create beach pictures. Players can use seaweed, pebbles, rocks, seashells and sand to create an interesting picture on the beach. Give everyone 20 minutes to design the pictures. After 20 minutes, have the entire group decide on the best and most creative beach pictures.
Beach Ball Pass
Tell everyone to select a partner, forming a two-person team. Give each team a beach ball. Have each team stand 6 feet from each other. Players must hit the beach ball back and forth to one another. If a team drops its beach ball at any time, its are out of the game. The team that can hit its beach ball the longest wins the game. To make the game harder, have the teammates take one giant step backward every 30 seconds.
Beach Miniature Golf
Dig holes in the sand to make a miniature golf course. For added decoration, tape triangle-shaped pieces of paper to straws to put beside each hole. Everyone can play individually or in teams. Keep score and the player or team with the lowest score wins the game. Use sand to create obstacles for the golf balls to travel over and under to the holes. Make each hole a par-2 or par-3 to keep the course simple.
Ball Race
Use a shovel to dig two long, side-by-side channels in the sand. The channels must be smooth enough and wide enough for pingpong balls to travel in. Two players will race at a time. Give two players a pingpong ball each and have them place the ball at the start of the channels. When you say, "Race!" the players have to blow the pingpong ball down the sand channel. The first player to blow his ball to the end of the channel wins the game. Players cannot touch the ball with their hands at any time.
Marble Race
Divide the players into two teams and tell each team to build a steep hill using sand. Tell the players they will have to roll a marble down their hill when it is complete. Give the teams 15 minutes to build their sand hills. After 15 minutes, each team will place a marble at the top of their hill and let it go. Measure how far each marble goes from the bottom of each team's hill. The farthest distance from the bottom of the hill wins the game.
