Pyramid Game
Have cheerleaders build pyramids together. See how many people can work together to make the largest most stable pyramid. Be sure to use appropriate-sized cheerleaders for each level of the pyramid to ensure that it will not fall. Choose stronger individuals for the bottom layers of the pyramid to hold and support the pyramid formation. Cheerleaders will have fun trying to build pyramids together with the rest of the squad.
New Cheer Game
Challenge your cheerleading squad to create new cheers from one word that is chosen for them. Write a random word on a piece of paper for each member of the squad. Place the papers in a hat and have each cheerleader choose a paper. From the word on the paper they choose, they will have to create a cheer. Choose funny and odd words to make this game more entertaining.
Play a Sport
Playing the sport that your cheerleading squad cheers for will be challenging and educational. It is important for cheerleaders to understand the game being played because they will then choose appropriate cheers to motivate players and fans. Cheerleaders will have fun playing a hands-on sport while learning the rules of the game. Challenge players of the sports teams to participate in a game with the cheerleaders as well.
Stunt Competition
As defined by the American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators, a stunt is one or more bases supporting one or more top persons off of the ground. Have your squad create groups of two to three people. Choose stunts you have already learned and work to master them. Attempt new stunts with direction and supervision from a coach. Have groups choose multiple stunts to create a performance choreographed to desired music. Squad members will vote on who wins the stunt competition.
