Easy Airplane Games

There are many forms of entertainment to enjoy while riding in an airplane, such as movies, books, music and games. Some games you can pick up at the newsstand or bookstore prior to boarding your flight, while others you can download on your laptop, MP3 or other digital device prior to leaving town.
  1. Word Games

    • Whether you prefer an old-fashioned crossword puzzle, a game of hangman or digital word search, word games make an easy and enjoyable game to play while in an airplane. Many airport terminals feature newsstands or bookstores that sell various word game booklets including crossword puzzles, word searches, and other various word games and puzzles. Download popular word games, such as Wheel of Fortune or Scrabble, onto your iPod, iPhone or other MP3 device, and play against the computer or with a flying companion.

    Number Games

    • Found in newspapers, magazines, and online, Sudoku makes a great game to play while in an airplane. Sudoku -- Japanese for "only single numbers allowed" -- consists of a grid filled with numbers as well as plenty of blank spaces. Similar to a crossword puzzle, the object of the game is to use the numbers one through nine only once per line. The game ranks from easy to very difficult. Find a Sudoku book or log onto websudoku.com and play one of six sextillion 9x9 Sudoku games.

    Card Games

    • Pack a deck of cards into your purse or carry-on bag and, once you are allowed to lower your beverage tray, shuffle the deck and play a wide variety of card games. Examples include poker, solitaire, blackjack, hearts, bridge, war, aces, rummy and more. If you forget to pack a deck of cards, use your laptop or MP3 player to download and play various card games online. Websites such as pogo.com and yahoo.com provide a wide variety of card games to choose from, both traditional as well as original.

    Picture Games

    • You don't need to pack your Pictionary game in order to enjoy a rousing drawing game. Simply draw on a piece of paper or napkin whatever idea that pops into your head and ask your friend or flying companion to guess what you drew. Or, swing by the bookstore and pick up a picture find book, where you spot the differences between two seemingly identical pictures. Download a memory match game onto your laptop or MP3 player.
