Games for College Girls

College is not just a time to learn new subjects and develop your career; it's also a time when you should have fun. Organized games are one way college students have fun. If the group is limited to just girls, it can be an exciting way to get to know each other and do some female bonding in the process.
  1. Athletic Games

    • If you don't feel like playing an actual soccer game, you can still use it as a framework to get to know one another. Have the group form into a large U. One of the girls stands in the center with a ball and yells out something about herself like "I'm from Ohio!" Anyone else from Ohio can run to the center of the field and try to steal the ball and dribble it down the open U. The one who steals the ball or kicks it down the open U can now move to the center, or if the central person remains she yells out other things about herself. Any variation on the rules can be decided by the group. The goal is to have girls actively having fun and getting to know each other.

    Bake-Off

    • If your college has cooking facilities, get your girls together for a bake-off. Girls can be split in teams or may be able to work independently depending on the group size. Decide on a treat that everyone should make. Have a blind taste-testing panel to rate the best treat. To keep up the team spirit, follow it up next week with a bake sale for charity that supports girls and women (e.g., the Girl Scouts or a Breast Cancer Foundation) to which all of the bakers can donate food items.

    Girls' Scavenger Hunt

    • Have a scavenger hunt in which girl-related items must be found or female facts about your college must be uncovered. Hide nail polish, a purse or even an undergarment at different locations across campus. Ask the girls to answer questions such as "What are the number of girls currently enrolled? What year did the first females graduate from your campus?" Or you may choose to have teams get together and venture off campus to the mall where they have to shop for hard-to-find items. The winner gets a fun prize such as a free manicure at a local spa.

    Historical Women's Game

    • Have each woman sit around a table. Tape a name of a famous woman in history (e.g., Amelia Earhart, Mae Jameson) to each person's back so that it is visible to others. Have each person take a turn trying to find out who they are by asking one question. For example, they might ask the group: "Was I born in the United States? Am I currently alive?" You might choose to focus the group oo historical women in a certain area (e.g., famous female authors) or you may choose to leave it wide open for wild guesses and loads of fun. (See Resource.)
