Pirate Games for Indoors

Have everyone walking the plank with indoor pirate games. Whether you are planning a birthday party or pirate games for your classroom, you can create a few indoor games that everyone will enjoy. A few supplies and some game ideas are all you need to get started. Awarding pirate-themed prizes, such as eye patches, toy parrots and temporary tattoos, to game winners can encourage everyone to play along.
  1. Indoor Treasure Hunt

    • Create an indoor treasure hunt by hiding several plastic or chocolate gold coins around the party area. Give each player a pirate-themed plastic bag. Tell everyone the pirate lost his treasures and they must help him find them. When you say, "Find that gold," the players must find as many gold coins as they can. The player who finds the most gold coins wins the game. For added fun, mark a star on two or three of the gold coins and the players who find these coins also win a prize.

    Pirate Island Prizes

    • Print picture of islands or draw pictures of islands on large pieces of construction paper. Write a number on each island and write the same numbers on small slips of paper. Place the slips of paper in a bowl. Play music and tell everyone to walk around the islands. When the music stops, each player must stand on an island. Draw a number out of the bowl and the player standing on that number wins a pirate prize.

    Cannonball Toss

    • Draw or print a picture of a pirate ship and tape it on the side of a cardboard box. Tear the lid flaps off the box. Make cannonballs using rolled up newspaper and black electrical tape. Mark a standing line 6 feet from the pirate ship. Player must try to toss the cannon balls into the ship. Award a prize to each player who makes a cannonball or to the player who makes the most cannonballs out of five tosses.

    Captain Pretzel Hook

    • Cut an "X" in the bottom of several plastic cups and give one to each player. The players must take a candy cane and stick it through the "X," so the candy cane hoop is coming out of the bottom of the cup. Fill a large bowl with pretzels and tell the players they have to "hook" as many pretzels as they can using the candy cane. They will put their hand inside the cup to hold the straight end of the candy cane. The player who "hooks" the most pretzels in 30 seconds wins the game and a prize.
