Planet Ring Toss
Paint different sized polystyrene foam balls like planets (one foam ball for each planet). Use a black marker to write point values on each planet. Scatter the planets on the floor and make a standing line 10 feet from the planets. Make a ring using rope and duct tape, and make sure the ring is large enough to fit around the biggest planet. Have players line up at the standing line. Give each player 10 tries to toss the ring onto the planets. Keep track of each player's score and award a prize to the player who earns the highest amount of points out of 10 tosses.
Planet Memory Match
Print several pictures of the planets with different backgrounds and from different angles. Be sure to print two of each picture. To make the pictures more durable and last longer, print them on card stock and laminate each one. Place the pictures face down and let the children play a game of memory. If a child finds a pair, she can go again. The player with the most pairs at the end of the game wins.
Over and Under Planets
Divide the players into two teams and have them line up in single file lines (facing the back of the player in front of him). Use the set of planets from the ring toss game and make another identical set of planets. Place each planet set in front of the first player in each team line. When you say, "Go," the first player must pass one planet over his head to the next player. She must pass the planet under her legs to the next player. The planet must go over and under all the way down the team line. Once the last player has the planet, they can pass the next planet. The first team to get all their planets to the last player in line wins the game.
Grab a Planet
Use the polystyrene planets from the other games to play Grab a Planet. Scatter the planets on the ground, with one less planet than you have players. Play some music and tell the children to walk around the planets. When the music stops playing, the children must grab a planet. The child who does not have a planet is out of the game. Remove a planet and keep playing. The last player remaining in the game is the winner.
