Action Figures
Action figures are a staple for boys. Whether they are soldiers, pro wrestlers or superheroes, action figures can provide hours of fun for the 8-year-old boy. There are a myriad of accessories available for each style of action figure, and the young boy can also use his imagination while playing by mixing up the genre of action figures.
Video Games
Video games are very popular among young boys. They may still be too young for the more detailed and teen-oriented war games that are marketed, but they will find an extensive library of games available for their age group. Sport and racing games in addition to superhero-based video games are popular and do not include extreme levels of violence.
Card Games
Eight-year-old boys are beginning to learn more complicated mathematical concepts in grade school. Card games such as Uno will be fun for him as he now will begin to understand the concept of the game and will be able to keep score. Blackjack, though a casino-based game, can be played at home with the child. He might have heard of the game but did not understand it. The skills he learned at school will help him with scoring, and he will have fun being able to play an adult game.
Toy Guns
In the heart of every young boy lies adventure. Toy guns have been popular among boys since they were first carved out of wood in the shape of rifles centuries ago. The times have changed and instead of wood, toy guns are made of plastic. Boys pretend to be policemen, soldiers and cowboys while running around the backyard with other boys having mock battles or pretending to throw each other in jail.
Remote Control Cars
At the age of 8, boys are able to use the controller on a wireless remote-controlled car. The days of the wired toddler remote are past for him. Remote-controlled cars give the 8-year-old boy a sense of freedom as he is in control of his own vehicle.
