Balloon Stomp
Balloon Stomp is a great game to break the ice. This game is easy to play and fun for all ages. The idea is to pop all the balloons of the opposite team before they pop yours. Divide the group into three equal teams and give each person two balloons to blow up. It is easier if you work with three distinct colors such as red, blue and green. This way there is no confusion about who is on your team or theirs. Once the balloons are blown up, tie one to each person's ankle with a piece of yarn or string. When the host of the party yells "Go," try to pop as many balloons from the opposing team as you can.
Charades
Watching someone try and act out a certain word or phrase is quite amusing in itself. But hearing the guesses people come up with is sure to have you rolling over with laughter. In order to play charades the group should be split evenly into teams. A player from each team will have the opportunity to act out the word for their team. If the team guesses the correct word, they will receive a point. The first group to reach ten points wins the game.
Picture Guess
Picture Guess is another game that can bring amusement and fun to the party. For this game you will need a big dry-erase board with dry-erase markers or a big drawing pad with a black marker. The host of the party will secretly show you a word and you will be responsible to draw it for your team before time runs out. The object of picture guess is to have your team figure out what you are drawing on the board to earn points. If your team guesses the right word for the picture you are drawing, then you receive a point. If they do not guess the right word, no points are awarded for that round. The first team to reach ten points, wins the game.
Family Scavenger Hunt
Scavenger hunts are excellent games to play with groups of large people. Each team gets to work together to find objects on the specified list in a certain amount of time. One person from each team is responsible for the list while the others help look for the items. Each group should have a digital camera to take pictures of the objects they find. They should be given two hours to search for the items on the list. Once all the items have been found, you can bring your list with the digital camera to the host to be checked for completeness. If your team does not make it back within the two-hour time limit, one point will be deducted from your score for each minute you are late. The team that has found the most items in the least time is declared the winner.
