Dinosaur Land Games

It's no secret that dinosaurs are eternally popular with kids -- and sometimes adults too -- and plenty of games have been developed to cater towards this fascination. Some of these games allow players to immerse themselves in the world of the dinosaurs. Dinosaur land games are available across a range of formats.
  1. Dinosaur Land

    • This simple board game is designed for two to four players, with the action taking place across a playing space illustrated with pictures of various species of dinosaur. Players move their pieces along the rainbow path on the board each turn, using a spinner to determine the number of places moved on each player's go. The first player to reach the finish line wins, but participants should beware, since landing on a hazard square results in a penalty for that player.

    Dino Land

    • This title combines the thrills of the pinball table with the challenge of taking on an onslaught of prehistoric predators; it was available for the Sega Genesis gaming system. Players bounce pinballs around the dinosaur-themed table to score points, using the flippers to hit the ball into targets and to prevent it from dropping down below the table. Players are also tasked with the job of protecting a character called Meeshell from aggressive dinosaurs on each level, using the pinball to chase away these beasts.

    Clever Kids: Dino Land

    • "Clever Kids: Dino Land" is a video game available for the PC as well as the Nintendo DS and Sony PlayStation 2 gaming systems. The game recreates the world of the dinosaurs and players explore this land with the aid of the in-game character and their guide, Sprocket the Robot. Over the course of their journey, players pick up a number of fascinating facts about dinosaurs, and learn about prehistoric food chains, feeding habits and the many varieties of dinosaur.

    Super Mario World

    • This title in the popular Super Mario series, released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1992, is set in Dinosaur Land, part of the series' Mushroom World setting. The plot of this 2D platform adventure involves the kidnap of Princess' Peach (or Princess Toadstool as she is also referred) by the evil Bowser, and Mario and Luigi's subsequent rescue mission. Players control the brothers as they progress across several themed lands, which include levels based in haunted houses, forests and fortresses. Players can utilize the friendly dinosaur Yoshi, whose back either can ride on; Yoshi can swallow eggs during levels to gain special powers for a limited period of time.
